The NYAWA had taken full advantage of the best venues that the city and Long Island suburbs have to offer. Thanks to the built-in publicity and guaranteed audience participation at festivals, beaches and highly visible tourist attractions, the NYAWA introduces arm wrestling to thousands of new fans each year. Festival arm-wrestling tournaments have become a well-known and much anticipated feature event. RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. *It is advised to warm-up your arm and use the heat liniment which is available and recommended. Wrapping the arm to keep it warm is also a plus and very effective prior to competing.
2. We need your E-mail address and phone number for finals competition and future events. We do not send out traditional mail notifications anymore.
3. Match Winners should report to scorekeeper and give their entry number.
4. NO videotaping or photography permitted except for those with Press Credentials or NYAWA permission. Freelancers must fill out a Freelance Contract Form prior to event.
5. Magnesium Chalk is available at each event. NO STICKUM or other material allowed.
6. Protection of the tables soft padding - belt buckles must be turned to the side.
7. A coin may be flipped for tableside preference.
8. Baseball hats MUST be worn backwards. Other hats can also be worn.
9. Contestants are permitted to use the NYAWA riser platform to increase their height to nearly the same as table waist level.
10. Competitors should not wear jewelry on their competing arm or hand. Arms must be bare of bandages, wristbands etc.
11. Contestants MUST approach the arm wrestling table with elbow on the pad first. No open-air grip grasping. One warning than a foul will be called.
12. SPONSOR ENDORSED EVENTS - No T-shirts with other company or product names will be permitted. Replace or turn shirt inside out prior to competing.
13. Contestants MUST immediately stop arm wrestling if referee calls a STOP MATCH or receive a loss of match.
14. If a contestant goes into an injury prone position ONCE and causes a STOP MATCH, the contestant will receive a loss of match.
15. The free hand must grip the table peg throughout the match. [If a peg slip occurs, one warning will be given during the match; another slip could result in a foul.
16. Thumb knuckles must be showing prior to start.
17. Referee must be able to pass a closed fist between the biceps and forearm of contestants prior to start.

18. Competing wrists must be straight before the start. {Unless in referee hook start}
19. Depending on the type of table used, shoulders must remain behind the actual or projected foul lines prior to the start.
20. At least one leg must remain in contact with the floor until the conclusion of the match. The other leg may be wrapped around the table leg or used as a brace against the table, without interference with opponent or foul will be given.
21. All starting matches will be announced as Ready Go and contestants will use a hand-to-hand 50% load pressure before the Ready-Go signal.
22. A winner or PIN will be declared when any part of the hand, wrist or forearm comes in contact with; or goes below the touch pad and determined as a parallel pin.
23. A win or pin will be announced 0NLY by the referee and the contestant MUST stay in the winning position until the match is declared official by the referee.
24. No part of the head, shoulder or body will be allowed to touch the back of a contestants hand and used for additional leverage. A foul will be given.
25. A bent back DEAD WRIST is a foul at the referees determination.
26. If an unintentional grip slip occurs it will result in a restart with straps or a hook grip at the referees determination. Mutual contestant approval might also be a factor.
27. A grip slip in a losing position or intentionally pulling out and causing a grip is a loss of match. A grip slip in a winning position is a foul.
28. Contestants will be allowed a (½) minute to obtain a grip prior to any match. After the ½ minute the match will result in a referee set-up. Contestants cannot break grips nor have any conversation with the referee during and after a referee set up or face a foul or disqualification.
29. Elbows must stay in contact with the elbow pad at all times, until the conclusion of the match.
30. A verbal correction notice will be given for elbow bobbing.
31. If a contestants elbow comes off of the elbow pad in a losing position its a loss of match. If the elbow comes off the pad in a winning position it will result in a foul.
32. A false jump-start is a foul.
33. Two fouls is a loss of match. Elimination is caused by two match losses.
34. There will be up to a 30 second rest period between fouls, but not necessary. Mutual consent would bring contestants back to the table in a shorter period.
35. A foul will be given for intentionally causing a delay in competition.
36. Double pumping can be used in a pro tournament or pro match. A double pump will result in a loss of match in an amateur event. The referee will make a determination.
37. A pick of the draw will be initiated if three or more contestants are entered in the MVP overall. Cards will be chosen at random to determine match-up.
38. NYAWA weight classes and age groups will be determined according to the days weigh-in and registration. Each weight class MUST have at least three contestants per class, unless a previous year defending champion is entered. Than a match bout will occur. If three contestants are not entered in any particular weight class, than contestants will have to go to the next higher class or lower age group. At times, classes will be determined according to lower to higher actual weight at registration to determine weight classes.
39. A 5 lb clothing allowance will be given in each weight class. NO stripping of all clothes.
40. If one or two contestants register in the Masters 45+ class, than a third contestant could be taken out of the designated weight class who is the oldest competitor of the field. Contestant must be at least 40 years old or seniors at least 55 years old.
41. If a contestant wins {first place] in any NY Golden Arm Series preliminary championship in any weight class, he or she must go progressively up in weight class in future Series events.
42. All first, second and third place award winners of any NY Golden Arm Series Championship will be mentioned and featured at the Empire State Tournament of Champions OPEN Finals.
43. First Place Super Heavy Weight winners (R or L) can continue to compete, but must compete in OPEN events ONLY!
44. If a contestants name is called during competition and he or she does not respond, its a disqualification and the contestant will be scratched from that weight class.
45. If a contestant is leaving the tournament for any reason the scorekeeper must be notified in advance. {NO EXCEPTIONS}
46. If your name is not called for any reason after the first round, you MUST notify the scorekeeper IMMEDIATELY.
47. The New York Golden Arm Series is an event that has amateur/beginner classes and two Pro-Am classes.
48. There are up to fourteen listed weight classes and classes will be decided according to the days weigh-in and registration at each event.
49. Anyone can compete in the Empire State Finals without qualifying.
50. Anyone under age 18 must have a parent or guardian signature and all competitors must sign a release waiver prior to competing.
51. A Parents or guardians can FAX a letter of approval to {718} 261-8111.
52. A phone call to the NYAWA at {718} 544-4592 from a parent or guardian is encouraged, prior to the event.
53. Drugs, alcohol, stimulants and inhalants are forbidden while competing in any NYAWA tournament.
54. Absolutely, No arm wrestling permitted on stage, after the tournament.
55. Single Elimination only if entries conflict with venue time constraint rules.
56. Use the stairs to enter and exit the stage area. Do not jump on or off the stage.
57. ONLY NYAWA RULES ARE ENFORCED AND NO OTHER RULES ARE CONSIDERED OFFICIAL.
58. The referees decision is FINAL IN ALL CASES. [No Exceptions].
59. Venue rules and regulations of each venue are enforced.
60. Side line heckling of referees and foul language has Zero Tolerance. You will openly be asked to leave the premises and could be banned from future events.
61. Contestants shall conduct themselves in a sportsman like manner at all times during and after the tournament. [Failure to do so could result in ejection, disqualification suspension or permanent banding from future events].
